Protest Rally
Britta and I attended the rally to protest Petland’s practice of being the largeste retailer of puppy mill puppies. We met some great folks from different rescue groups and received many honks of support from people driving by.

Way to go Corri. What a powerful way to educate passersby on the issue of puppy mills and what an excellent lesson for your students!!

I think I responded directly to Laura instead of the thread, so here it is again:
I think that everything we can do to publicize the realities of puppymills is good. If we can get people to choose breeders or rescue groups/shelters for obtaining their pets instead of stores….SUPER! Every little helps.
For me, it was putting my money where my mouth is. I was just discussing with my 8th graders 1)Why you should say something when you see injustice happening, 2) What you can do, and 3)Had them choose something(s) that they would stand up for. I used this as an example. Britta and I went, and I won’t say we had a blast because it wasn’t a ton of fun, but we felt very accomplished :-)

That is so wonderful you and Britta rallied against what she was prior to rescue getting her, being a previous breeding dog. How appropriate she tells people not to buy puppies from PetLand. I know with more of these protests word will get out! Way to go Corri and Britta.
