Sara is such a Lil’Bit

What that you got?

Diane is fostering her in Brainerd, MN and reports that Sara Lil’Bit  arrived Sunday the 7th.  Her nickname is Lil’Bit because she is learning a little bit at at time and she is so tiny. What a sad little girl and she was so terrified of everything. It must be overwhelming for her to have so much happen to her after spending so many years in just a cage… only being ‘grabbed’ when it was time for breeding. Her first few days were fear-filled, although the ‘kids’ Ben and Maddie, are helping her learn to be a dog again.

But before this sounds too dismal.  We have some firsts:

1. the Kids taught her where the food is stored, and all about treats.  So now she is learning that people and people-hands can have good things, but still shy. It seems her little tummy is sensitive and so we are being very careful what she gets for food and treats.

Stop looking at me.

2. She began investigating our yard… a few feet at a time.

3. She taught herself to climb up the one or two steps to our deck in the back yard.

4. She taught herself to trot… I don’t think she’s ever had the chance!  Doesn’t have a clue about running and playing though. So now, we are working on very simple things… not being so afraid of big people moving around her… lots of casual contact, but nothing forced. We got  her fitted for a harness so we can introduce her to walking with us.

Anyway, isn’t she the sweetest little bit?  All 11 pounds of her.

I’m so glad to see that she is starting to feel comfortable. I can’t wait until the day when she truly ‘struts her stuff’ like all minis are entitled to do!!

I love the video of Bree & the other schnauzer running by her. I think Bree is so sweet & I hope she finds her permanent home soon.
