Britta Update

Here is the newest “office assistant” Britta. She knows she is queen of the house… takes the spot closest to foster mom or dad on the sofa, or bed when its nap time. Knows where the kitchen is and the kibble bin… ahem… I have to now latch it…. she pushes the cover off with her nose, and has taught the other two that they can be cat burglars too!

She gets along great with her foster brother, Ben and sister Maddie, and loves having the fenced yard to blast around in with Ben. The last couple of high-melt days, they need mini showers and towel rubs to get all the water and ‘snow dirt’ off when they come in… as you can see by her damp feet and furnishings. She is doing very well in her house-hygiene, now goes to the deck door when she wants to go out.

She is a cuddle bug too, and loves to be held. She is a ‘flipper’ when she wants attention… she’ll flip your hand or elbow up with her nose when she wants you to continue to pet her.

When the outside dries out a little more, we will begin her walks and leash work. I expect she will catch on as quick as she has everything else. She is working hard to earn her forever home!

Britta is happily placed with Diane in Brainard. Here’s an update I got from her new mommy:

“She is doing great. Knows where the groceries are kept, and like you said loves people treats, just like the others. She is acting like she’s been here for years. Very sweet personality!”

Britta Visits Duluth

Britta had a very exciting weekend. She traveled to the frozen tundra known as Duluth. She enjoyed sunning herself in the living room during my sister-in-law’s baby shower. She explored the woods and neighbors yards around the house and ran around with the other family dogs (golden retriever and Newfoundland). On the way home she didn’t even puke!

Today, Britta was spayed and had some teeth removed. She is planning on spending the night cuddled up close to her buddy Talis.

Protest Rally

Britta and I attended the rally to protest Petland’s practice of being the largeste retailer of puppy mill puppies. We met some great folks from different rescue groups and received many honks of support from people driving by.

Yesterday, I took Britta and Talis over to a friend’s house for dinner. She was soooo happy to sit and snuggle with the two boys there. How exciting! She is very friendly, walks up and investigates everyone and LOVES to be loved by anyone.

Last night when we got home I witnessed Britta actually pounce on Talis! She jumped on his head and then darted away….like playing tag. She also chases him around the back yard, which he loves. Britta discovered that racquetballs are sort of squishy and chews on them a bit. She is learning to play!

While Britta still hangs out in her kennel when I am not home, she is sleeping with me most nights. It’s a Corri sandwich! Talis and Britta as bookends.
