Our Last Adoption of the Year. Puppy!

by PamOBrien

Puppy  celebrated Christmas and the New Year Holiday in his new home and is doing Great! Here is a note from his new human:

Happy to report that Rufus has adjusted very nicely to his new home. He remains full of energy and greatly enjoys his twice-daily walks. He has had a chance to meet quite a few of the neighborhood dogs over the holidays. He and ‘Peanut Butter’, the giant poodle mix next door, have plenty of fun coordinating their ‘ready-to-pounce’ moves and generally checking each other out through the fence often, and he has become fast friends with ‘Jack’ (the sheltie next door on the other side) who has come over to play with Rufus in the back yard a few times. He was able to master the housetraining / ‘outside = bathroom’ concept and seems to be very comfortable in his new surroundings (with the exception of the occasional 2-3am wake up call to be let out). Overall, Rufus’ holidays went well — he has become fond of the santa-hat (pictured) even moreso than some of his other toys, having bypassed the option to wear it, in favor of carrying it around like a plush toy! He also got to meet some of the extended family (aka default future dogsitters, should I be out of town), and is learning to keep the barking to a minimum (for a schnauzer at least!).

I have attached a couple of pictures… the first is of Rufus in his default ‘watch-dog’ spot, where he spends a good deal of time monitoring the neighborhood from the elevated living room window, and the second of one of the rare occasions where I was able to get him to pose for a picture with me.

Hope your holidays went well, and thanks again for the amazing adoption x-mas present!

Charlie Bear Has a Forever Home For the Holidays!

by PamOBrien

Charlie is a perfect match for his new family. He loves his new Dad which was nice, as most take to the woman in the household. He is so well mannered with their grandchildren and is enjoying all the attention this family has to offer. Charlie is going to go traveling next week and visit his extended family on a road trip. He rides wonderfully in the car and walks so nicely on a leash. Charlie is so happy that some people are opting to adopt instead of getting puppies. “Everything about Charlie is great!” There is no training needed as he knows everything already. He was well loved at his foster home and his transition was instant and will continue getting affection from now on. We are so happy for Charlie and our others that get the very best home through our rescue and we can keep continuing our mission to help as many as we can.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays From MSPMSR!

by PamOBrien

We are taking a short break starting December 15th to January 1st.

We do not do Holiday adoptions because no animal should be a surprise. The arrival of a new dog will bring a whole new environment to your household. Who will do the feeding, exercise, health care, grooming during this busy time of year. The family needs to discuss these issues and training to be done immediately. They are not impulse items and can not be returned like merchandise. Once the novelty wears off the dogs needs will not change and still be there. They will forever be a child for up to 18 years.

Good breeders do not revolve around Christmas and not keen to the fact that their dogs will be given as gifts. The Christmas dog will come back after the family realizes the time and expense it takes to take care of these poor animals. The dogs that are advertised for Christmas are not the ones families would want because they are from Puppy mills. They realize this is a money making Season. They’re often sick and most of all their Mom’s are in neglectful cages. Why support and give money to ones that are just looking to take advantage of people falling in love with the cute puppy in the window. Get one from a reputable breeder or rescue after the Holidays.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from MSPMSR! See you next year!
